Against the odds: Nevo Beck and Team Israel make history in China

A second-place finish at the World Obstacle Championship in Beijing in September 2026 shows what determination and teamwork can make possible.

When Nevo Beck traveled to Beijing, sponsored by Israel at Heart, he was carrying more than athletic hopes. He was representing Israel on one of the world’s biggest stages, and competing against athletes from countries with teams many times larger than Israel’s.

And he delivered.

Nevo and Team Israel took second place in the relay final at the World Obstacle Championship in Beijing, turning an ambitious dream into an extraordinary result.

Against elite company

The team’s performance showed everything that makes sport powerful: determination, teamwork, discipline and spirit. Against elite competitors from the United States, Germany, Canada, China and the Philippines, Nevo refused to be intimidated by the odds. He was the only Israeli athlete to qualify for the 400-meter category, which placed an enormous responsibility on his shoulders. In the weeks before the championship, his preparation was as much about the mental challenge of competing under pressure as the physical conditioning.

Israel at Heart, everywhere he went

Nevo’s journey to the World Championship was supported by Israel at Heart. Throughout, he wore the Israel at Heart logo, on the competition courses, around Beijing and everywhere he went.
